The back story

About Mdina, Rabat and the centre: the back story

Mdina was the capital before the Knights built Valletta. On its ridge stand the walls, the cathedral and palazzi; Rabat, outside the gate, keeps the Roman town house and the catacombs.

Walk the lanes to the bastion for the view over the island, dine at De Mondion or The Medina, then walk out to Rabat.
