Ħaġar Qim stands on a promontory and Mnajdra lies 500 metres downhill towards the sea. Both are over 5,000 years old and are part of the UNESCO serial listing “Megalithic Temples of Malta”; at Mnajdra the sunrise lines up with the temple at the equinoxes. A visitor centre explains the sites (heritagemalta.mt).
