Strait Street, Triq id-Dejqa, runs the length of Valletta below Republic Street. In the days of the Royal Navy it was the city’s nightlife quarter for sailors on shore leave; the old painted signs of bars and cabarets still show on the stone. Today it is a street of small wine and cocktail bars and restaurants, among them AKI on the corner of Santa Lucia Street (MICHELIN Guide Malta 2026 (guide.michelin.com, read 25 October 2026)).
