The National Museum of Archaeology occupies the Auberge de Provence on Republic Street. It covers the Neolithic, from 5900 BC, to the early Phoenician period, and its treasures include the Sleeping Lady and the carvings from the temples; Heritage Malta calls it the first step to understanding the islands (heritagemalta.mt).
